Abstract
The present study was carried out to investigate the distribution of tyrosine hydrogylase(TH)-, dopamine -¥â-hydroaylase(DBH)-, and phenylalanolamine-N-methyltransferase(PNMT)- immunoreactivities in the dorsal raphe nucleus and central gray of Apodemus agrarius. The animals were perfused with 4%-paraformaldehyde and the brains were cut serially into 40§ thick coronal sections. Sections were stained either with cresyl violet or immunohistochemically.
In cresyl violet stain, dorsal raphe nucleus of the Apodemus agrarius was reverse Y-shaped. The dopaminergic-neuron groups(TH-positive, DBH- & PNMT-negative) in the dorsal raphe nucleus were divided into 3 groups : dorsal group, intermediate group and ventral group. In the dorsal dopaminergic cell group, the shape of dopaminergic neurons was oval and pisiform shape. The number of dopaminergic neurons in the central part of the intermediate group was less than peripheral part of this group. Most neurons of the ventral dopaminergic cell group were directed from dorsal portion to ventral portion.
The noradrenergic neurone(TH- & DBH-positive, PNMT-negative) were found in the most peripheral part of the central gray(2-6cells per section). These noradrenergic neurons were anterior group of mesencephalic trigeminal nucleus.
